A little care. A safer handover. | ReuseForGood
Good sharing starts with clear information and a little care. Use this guide before posting, contacting someone or collecting an item. Stop any arrangement that feels unsafe. Listing review does not guarantee someone's identity or an item's safety.
Before you begin
Every item is free
Do not send a payment, reservation fee or deposit to obtain an item. Avoid links requesting card details, bank access or fees to release a free item. The platform does not operate payments, reservations or delivery.
Your information is yours
Never share your password, verification code or identity document with another user. Keep home addresses and daily routines out of public listings. Check photo backgrounds for documents, number plates or other personal information.
When you are giving an item
Describe its condition honestly
- Photograph the actual item clearly, including faults, missing parts and useful measurements.
- Do not offer an item you know is dangerous or unsuitable for its intended use.
- Erase personal data and sign out of devices before handover; remove memory cards and SIM cards.
Share your number thoughtfully
A dedicated reveal request exposes your number only with your consent and an enabled contact channel. Visitors can reveal it and may keep a copy. Hiding a listing or disabling contact later cannot recover a number someone already saved.
Keep the listing current
Mark the item as given away after handover. If it is no longer available or you need a pause, hide the listing instead of leaving it visible.
When you are receiving an item
Ask before you travel
Confirm condition, measurements, faults and how to carry the item. Photos do not prove the owner's identity, and listing review does not mean that the item was inspected.
Inspect and choose freely
Check the item before taking it. For electrical goods, children's items or health-related items, check suitability and safety and seek a qualified person's advice when needed. Decline an unsuitable item; being free is not a reason to ignore a risk.
Arrange a safer meeting
- Choose a suitable, well-lit public place and a comfortable time where the item's size permits.
- Tell someone you trust where and when you are meeting, and bring someone if helpful.
- For large items, discuss access and lifting in advance. Avoid entering somewhere that feels unsafe.
- Share an exact location only as needed after agreeing, and do not accept pressured changes.
Signs to stop
Requests for money or secret codes
Pressure to transfer money, reveal a verification code or follow an unfamiliar link is a reason to stop contact and report the listing.
Pressure, abuse or inconsistent information
End contact if conditions keep changing, information does not match or you experience abuse. You do not need to continue an arrangement that makes you uncomfortable.
How to report
On the listing page, choose “Report this listing”, select a reason and give a short factual description. Reporting requires sign-in. Do not put passwords or sensitive numbers in a report. Authorised staff review it and may send a notification update.
If there is immediate danger
Move somewhere safe and seek help from the appropriate local emergency services. Platform reports are not an emergency channel. We do not imply continuous monitoring or promise a specific response time.
